Spring Mountain Ski Area opened it's doors for business on December 31, 1962. Thirty-eight years later, the Buckman family took over stewardship of the mountain and this year will celebrate their 10 year anniversary! So many people have learned to ski or snowboard here...including some former Olympians! We hear so many stories and we'd love to share yours! So click here and tell us about your memories of days at Spring Mountain!
A note from Richard Spritz, M.D. Professor and Director, Human Medical Genetics Program, University of Colorado:
"I cannot tell you how jazzed I am to find that Spring Mountain is still in operation. I skied there most every Friday evening in the
mid 1960's. i must have burned through half a dozen pair of gloves on that old rope tow; does it still exist? Thanks for stoking
a lifelong obsession. These days I live in Colorado and ski more than 60 days a year."
A note from David Williams, New Boarder:
"I learned to snowboard at Spring Mountain in February 2009. I remember what the person at the rental shop said when
told him I was taking a lesson and snowboardind for the first time: "It will change your life." It certainly did - I am
completely hooked, have a 2009/2010 season pass and am on target to ride 40 times this season. I learned to ride at
age 43, so I am usually one of the oldest guys out there on Student Night on Thursdays."
A note from Bob Seifarth, New York City, PhotoJournalist
"I'm not a skier or boarder, but I took the canopy tour at Spring Mountain and I loved it! My pics were great...the story was
great and garnered a lot of interest....My wife's not thrilled because now I am determined to do canopy tours all over
t he world! Next stop....Costa Rica!" Thanks Spring Mountain for providing a thrilling adventure that most people
have to travel far away to experience!"
